Trials. Yes trials, not previews (🤮) are a non negotiable for me. Imagine some random person you’ve never met rocking up on your wedding day and having to spend the most intense part of the morning with someone you don’t vibe with?

Not to mention; worrying what the end result will be? Having no time to change anything due to time pressures? Also having no decent skincare prep in place because you’ve been using a fave wipe for the last 15 years? Good grief. My trials are an intimate experience where we can get to know eachother and really work on a collaborative basis to curate the perfect look. Even if that means tweaking and changing a few things.

You wouldn’t book a venue without a visit or not try on a wedding dress- see what I mean? It’s all part of the process.

Have your wedding makeup trial coming up? Don’t let these mistakes leave you feeling deflated.

• Show up with heavily filtered and AI images. Mua’s- IYKYK- these do not represent real life or real skin. You ain’t gonna look like a silicone doll. Guess what REAL SKIN MOVES which means lines, pores and texture.

• Not have some images from your own artist gives us a little punch in the gut when you show us someone else’s work and surely you’ve booked us for our work? Take a look through our photos and select some that you love! We also will know that these are real skin and not edited. (Well some of us don’t edit our work anyway 🤪🙄)

• Not have an eyebrow tidy before. Brows just make the look so if you’re planning on waxing or having HD brows, micro blading etc, try and do this before your trial. (Waving at least 48 hours before please due to risk of infection)

• Wear a multi coloured top. You’d be surprised how the makeup looks completely different when offset against a white or ivory top. So opt for something like this- but don’t panic,I have bridal gowns in my studio if you really don’t have anything.

• Hold the mirror up to your nose. Of course makeup can be seen if you are really up close so try hold the mirror away from your face so you can see what everyone else will see. Yes we know you can see a line or a pore but that’s because you’re looking for them. Trust me on this. 👀

• Not speaking up if you want to tweak something. Stop being British and saying it’s good if you feel like something is missing. The whole point of a trial is to try things so if you don’t get the wow factor that’s ok! We can work on it together and curate the perfect look as long as you’re honest. Don’t be a people pleaser Paula.

• Don’t expect miracles. You cannot use a face wipe every day and expect vogue worthy skin. Skincare routines should start months in advance!! That goes for aesthetics if you want to go down the route of polynucleotides or Botox.

Choose your squad wisely and debrief or you will risk having unnecessary stress. Here’s the rookie errors I see at wedding mornings…..

• Bridal party arriving late. This throws out the schedule and by the time they’ve arrived, faffed around, changed into their wedding pyjamas sometimes it can be another 30 mins before they’re ready to sit in the chair. You’d be surprised how much of the makeup I can do in these 30 mins. Make sure they’re aware of directions, where to park, where to go and most importantly the latest time they need to arrive by.

• Constantly asking you questions when you’re in my chair. We see it all the time. This is your time to sit back and relax and not to have to answer things that either could have been asked earlier or really are not that big a deal. Move along or face my wrath 🤨🤪

• Steaming their dresses after their hair and makeup. Steam is not conducive to long lasting curls and makeup. Make sure they’re doing this before they have their glam done or you will have to delegate to someone else. 👀

• Getting wasted on Prosecco and being annoying and loud. Now we all like a drink but I’ve seen bridesmaids necking the fizz and becoming increasingly irritating and adding to stress of the brides which isn’t fair. Limit the alcohol and keep things calm and relaxed. ☺️

• Bridesmaids arriving with poorly done lashes or tan and making a thing about it. Simply- this day isn’t about you, it’s the bride’s day so 🤫 🫣

Tag your bridesmaid squad to give them a heads up 😆👌🏼

The ultimate no makeup makeup. My beautiful bride came to me looking for natural makeup and that is why exactly what we did. That said, don’t be fooled into thinking this took 10 minutes. There is a huge misconception that natural makeup is quick and easy. Trust me it isn’t! Curating a perfect layering of skincare products and cream and liquid makeup, we formulated this ultra glowing but long lasting makeup that saw her right through until she danced the night away! (See last slide!) No heavy foundation, lashes or powders.

But a reminder for the brides who aim for this flawless looking makeup style. Your skincare is everything! My bride was super organised and on the ball with this and worked hard to keep it consistent to ensure her makeup looked this good! 👀

“I wont look like myself”
Choosing a makeup artist that aligns is the number one thing you should focus on. So if you’re a natural gal then stay away from heavy glam artists. Look at work that resonates and makes you think “yep, that’s a bit of me”. Bridal makeup does not need to be heavy to look beautiful. I specialise in natural looks that look and feel like YOU.

“Will my makeup last?”
By using high quality skin prep and makeup products aswell as following a good skincare routine you can be assured that your glam will look picture perfect from morning till night. Even if you’re an oily girl!

“Will I vibe with my makeup artist?”
You spend some of the most precious moments with your makeup artist so it’s imperative you click. Find someone who you relate to, who feels personable and someone you feel you can feel relaxed with.
